Michael Musto – The Village Voice:
“Niland’s performance was stellar! We don’t know what’s next for Chris but he is definitely going places! This kind of talent is hard to find. He is a brilliant musician and a natural performer. Keep your eyes on him!”
Twenty-one year old singer-songwriter, Chris Niland has been performing since he was four. At age twelve he auditioned for and was accepted into The Hartt School of Music Preparatory Division and a year later was chosen to perform in an exclusive, performance group known as “Broadway Kids”. On August 27th, he performed in New York City , at Dillon’s Lounge and opened to rave reviews, two encores and a five minute ovation.
In 1999 Chris was asked by The Connecticut Children’s Choir Director, to join his “select choir”. Chris did so, and a short time later, was asked to be one of the three, lead tenor soloists, from peers all over the country, to perform at Carnegie Hall. Shortly after Chris recorded his first solo debut recording in 2000 which included songs like Danny Boy; Bring Him Home; numerous oldies; Broadway numbers; and Frank Sinatra standards.
In 2001, a music director in Bristol, Connecticut asked that he play the lead in her production of Les Miserables. He did and he brought the house down. After that performance he was asked to play the lead in Cabaret as “Emcee”. In 2004, Chris performed in a variety of venues such as “ Connecticut Idol” The World Famous “Tavern On The Green in NYC where he dazzled the audience with his touch, articulation, and rich harmonic textures, and many other high profile venues and events including Casinos, Fairs, Festivals, and Corporate events.
He also completed 2 more albums that consisted of his own original work along with cover songs from various era’s & performers.
Although Niland is often compared to singer Michael Buble in terms of sheer vocal refinement, he has a voice and style uniquely his own.
